For millions of people all over the world who wear glasses and have always yearned to be without them, LASIK is a dream come true. Just imagine getting up in the morning and not having to grope for glasses, or indulge in the fumble of putting on contact lenses. Imagine playing games without worrying about the glasses being dislodged - and you have a clear picture as to what LASIK can really do for you. It is like a miracle.

What is LASIK?
LASIK (Laser Assisted In situ Keratomileusis), is a surgical procedure performed by ophthalmologists to correct vision and reduce a person’s dependency on devices like glasses & contact lenses.
LASIK represents the simple technique of raising a very thin flap of the clear membrane of the eye, and then simply reshaping the cornea with a controlled laser beam.

Why LASIK?
LASIK has the ability to correct not only nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, but also, irregularities of the cornea with equal ease. KC Memorial Eye Hospital utilizes the most advanced system available in the world with the latest software, which literally gives you exceptional vision.

LASIK has the big advantage of being almost a painless procedure. On completion, the patient may occasionally complain of a feeling like a hair in the eye at most. The feeling goes away in about 4 hours and after that, it is simply progressive improvement of vision with virtually no discomfort.

It is the preferred choice:
Safety : Once the eligibility for surgery is established the rest is simple. With the advancement in technology, LASIK treatment is now more precise than ever before. K C Memorial uses the world’s most advanced LASIK machine—the MEL80 Excimer Laser from Carl Zeiss, approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), USA, to provide superior results for accurate vision.

Ease : The surgery only takes 10 minutes. The patient does not have to spend more than two hours at the clinic, including surgery time. Clarity of vision is achieved within hours of surgery.

Am I Eligible ?
Your doctor will conduct several tests to gauge the thickness and curvature of the cornea, among other tests to determine whether you are suitable for surgery. You are advised not to wear soft contact lenses for one week, and rigid ones for two weeks prior to the surgery.

Does it Hurt?
There is no pain during any of the LASIK procedures due to anaesthetic eye drops. Some patients may feel mild discomfort or a pressure sensation during the procedure. After LASIK there may be a little irritation for a few days but that is normal.
